'Alcohol May Be Man's Worse Enemy But The Bible Says To Love Your Enemy'

After a few travel to distance lands, particularly NZ where a French bartender produced some beautiful cocktails, we decided to be more imaginative and produce something more exotic than a G&T (don’t get me wrong, we LOVE a G&T). 

Sharing some of these experiments in case others would like to have a go.. for all of the below, add all ingredients apart from the garnish and shake until the cocktail shaker starts to get frosty (unless indicated otherwise!) Any known associations are referenced. Enjoy!

Sweet & Sour Cucumber Gin

Mix – blend 200ml sugar syrup, 50ml cider vinegar, half cucumber and then sieve (can be prepared beforehand and stored in the fridge)

  • 50ml gin
  • 50ml mix (see above)
  • 10ml elderflower cordial
  • 1/4 juice of a lemon
  • 50ml bitter lemon/ginger ale

Grapefruit Whiskey Sour

  • Grapefruit (about a third)
  • 33ml whiskey (we used a blended Scotch)
  • 8ml elderflower liqueur
  • sugar syrup

The Unexpected Pea

A luxurious cocktail for those fun evenings with the surprise addition of sugar snap peas.

  • 40ml gin
  • 10ml elderflower liqueur
  • 3/4 juice of a lemon
  • 4 sugar snap peas
  • 6 cherries
  • sugar syrup

Pink Lady 2

An adaptation of one seen on Maison Mixologist Menu | MAP Maison New

  • Tequila
  • Pomegranate molases
  • Lime Juice
  • Prosecco

Cinnamon Bun Experiment

  • 50ml dark rum
  • 50ml orange juice
  • tablespoon yoghurt
  • brown sugar to taste
  • cardamom powder dusting

Toffee Apple

  • 25ml ginger liqueur
  • apple juice 
  • honeycomb rim

French 75

  • 35ml cognac
  • 10ml fresh lemon juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • top with champagne (after shaking)
  • add lemon peel garnish

TBC - forgotten this one!

Ingredients:

Fancy Cherry Cola

  • Agosta bitters
  • 35ml tequila
  • 10ml chambord
  • 10ml sherry
  • 10ml salted raspberry sugar syrup (homemade)
  • Top with coke to taste (not too much!)
  • Raspberry garnish

Tequila Grapefruit IPA

  • 35ml tequila blanco
  • 12ml elderflower liqueur
  • lime juice
  • 10ml sugar syrup
  • top up with grapefruit IPA (we used BrewDog Elvis Juice)

Good Fellas

  • 45ml bourbon (infused 24 hours with 2 x lime leaves)
  • 10ml black cardamom syrup (see cocktail below)
  • 20ml red vermouth
  • 1 tsp balsamic vinegar (good quality)
  • 2 dashes angostura bitters

Gin Cardamom Fizz

  • 40ml gin
  • 10ml black cardamom syrup (2:1 syrup infused with 2 black cardamom pods for 2 hours)
  • splash of rose water
  • squeeze of lemon juice
  • top with prosecco
  • cucumber to garnish
